The Category · Brand Agents

Your shoppers are bringing AI. Meet your brand agent.

Shoppers now arrive with AI on their side — buyer agents that discover, compare, and filter before a human ever sees your site. The sell side is still mostly static pages.

A brand agent closes that gap: one intelligence, trained on your catalog and voice, selling on your behalf — to the shoppers on your site and to the agents shopping from outside it.

The asymmetry nobody prices in

Buying is becoming asking. Shoppers ask ChatGPT what to get. Gemini compares options inside search. AI assistants carry the shopper's preferences and budget — and they're starting to check out on the shopper's behalf. The buy side of commerce is automating: fast, and loyal to the shopper.

The sell side, at most brands, is a website built for humans who click. When a buyer agent sizes up your store, you're not in the room: whatever it can find is the pitch. Automated buyers, static sellers — that's the asymmetry, and it decides who gets recommended.

The industry is building agents to help people buy — Kinect builds the agents that help brands sell.

The answer isn't a better website. It's an agent on your side of the table. Brands that bring their own get described by their own facts, not by whatever an AI pieced together.

What a brand agent does all day

On your site

Sells the shoppers you already have

Answers fit, comparisons, and objections like your best floor rep — grounded in your real catalog and policies. Shoppers who engage go on to purchase at 5–8× the site average; that's engaged-cohort behavior, not store-wide lift.

To buyer agents

Represents you where AI shops

When ChatGPT, Gemini, or a shopping agent asks about your products, the answer is your data — what sets you apart, your policies, your words. Not guesswork.

Between visits

Keeps your story current

Fills in the catalog — fit, fabric, occasion — keeps what ChatGPT and Google read about you current, and flags what shoppers keep asking for. Nightly, with nothing needed from you.

On Kinect, that work runs as six revenue jobs on one intelligence: AI Sales Rep, Dynamic Product Pages, Catalog Enrichment, Customer Intelligence, Agent-Ready Storefront, and AI Studio. The brand agent is the category — the platform is what runs it. See the platform.

Full definitions in the glossary: brand agent, buyer agent, and agentic commerce.

Brand agents, merchant agents, seller agents

Three names for the same move, borrowed from different corners of commerce. The distinctions matter less than the direction: if the buyer side is an agent, the sell side needs one too.

Brand agent

The DTC framing

The agent carries the brand's identity and voice — because for brands, how you sell is part of what you sell. This is the vocabulary for stores whose name means something.

Merchant agent

The operator framing

Common in enterprise retail platforms; often includes back-office automation (merchandising, campaigns, inventory) alongside selling. Salesforce ships a product by this name for large retailers.

Seller agent

The marketplace framing

The most general term: any selling party in an agent-to-agent transaction, one of thousands on a platform. Protocols like UCP define how it negotiates with buyer agents.

How Kinect supplies yours

Kinect is the AI revenue platform for DTC brands: one intelligence per brand — trained on your catalog, policies, customers, and conversations — pointed at both sides. The AI Sales Rep is your brand agent at work on your own site, selling the shoppers you already paid to acquire. The Agent-Ready Storefront is the same intelligence facing outward — your brand, readable by the AI assistants doing tomorrow's shopping.

Not two products to configure. One brain, two directions — live on your store the same day, and every conversation makes it better at selling your brand specifically.

Wondering where your store stands today? Check the protocol layer with the free UCP Test, or get the full picture of how AI shoppers experience your store with the AI Readiness Audit.

Brand agents, answered

What is a brand agent?

A brand agent is an AI agent that works for the brand — the sell-side counterpart to the buyer agents consumers now use. One intelligence, trained on the brand's catalog, policies, customers, and voice, doing three things: converting shoppers on the brand's own site, representing the brand accurately to outside agents like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, and keeping what AI reads about the brand — catalog data, policy answers, standards like UCP — current as things change.

Is a brand agent just a chatbot?

No. A chatbot answers support tickets. A brand agent sells: it knows the catalog down to every variant, answers the questions that decide purchases, carries the brand's actual voice, and sells on both sides — to human shoppers on the site and to the AI assistants shopping from outside it. The interface can look similar; the job, the data underneath, and the revenue accountability are different.

What's the difference between brand agents, merchant agents, and seller agents?

They name the same side of the transaction with different emphases. Brand agent is the DTC framing — the agent carries identity and voice. Merchant agent is the retail-operator framing, common in enterprise platforms, often including operational automation like merchandising. Seller agent is the marketplace framing — any selling party in an agent-to-agent transaction. Whichever word your platform uses, the direction is the same: if buyers have agents, sellers need one too.

Shopify already feeds my catalog to ChatGPT. Don't I get this for free?

You get presence for free — your products in the same index as every competitor's. What no platform automates is representation: whether AI recommends your products for the right reasons, describes your differences the way you would, and quotes your policies correctly. Getting described right is exactly what a brand agent exists to win.

How fast can a brand get one?

Same day. Kinect sets up the integration on your live store, trains on your real catalog and policies, and your brand agent starts selling — no replatforming, no engineering project. Book a demo and we'll walk your store together.

Buyers brought an agent. Bring yours.

One intelligence per brand, selling both ways — live on your store the same day.
